Current Exhibition - 3rd Nature

Mary Stubbs, Nancy White, and Rollin Kocsis combine their creative energy into an exhibition about nature and the environment:  3rd Nature.  The show runs until Sept. 1, 2011.  Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from noon until 4:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

3rd Nature Exhibition Extended

Gallery Fifty Six will extend the 3rd Nature exhibtion until September 1, 2011.  This show is a combinaton of photography, ceramic sculpture, ceramic vessels, and painted silk wall-hangings.  The work is by Memphis artists Mary Stubbs, Nancy White, and Rollin Kocsis.

The gallery is open Wednesday through  Saturday, from noon until 4 PM

Orpheum Art Auction This Sunday

Looking for something to do this Sunday?  The Orpheum is having their annual Art Auction Sunday the 21st beginning at 2PM with the Silent Auction and the Live to follow at 3PM. Due to the amount of art this year they have expanded it to The Parlor, Lobby and The Pat Halloran Broadway Club. The event is free, please feel free to come down or spread the world to anymore who might be interested.

The Gallery Fifty Six artists who are invovled are:  John Armistead, Art Covington, Emery Franklin, Madison Sherman, Rollin Kocsis, and Jan Hankins.

Sneak Peek


Jan Hankins will present his work in the September exhibition 'Parsimone's Flotsam'.  The subject of his paintings are based on objects that the artist found and picked up over the time along the beaches of Florida, in the Pickwick Forest, from the streets of Memphis, and elsewhere.

Photography by Mary Stubbs at Gallery Fifty Six

Mary Stubbs, Memphis photographer, will present a wide collection of her recent black and white images at Gallery Fifty Six's '3rd Nature' exhibition.  The exhibition opens on August 5, 2011 with an artists' reception from 5 to 8 PM.  The public is invited.

3rd Nature will open tomorrow, Friday, August 5th, 2011 at 5:00 PM at Gallery Fifty Six.  The show will include photography by Mary Stubbs, ceramic sculpture by Nancy White, and painted silk wall-hangings by Rollin Kocsis. The theme for this exhibition is nature and the environment.  This is a free public event open to the citizens of Memphis.  If you have not been to an opening at Gallery Fifty Six, now is the time to visit the gallery.

PARKING for Gallery Fifty Six

Visitors may park in front of the building at 2256 Central, or they may park on the two side streets - New York Street or Philadelphia Street.  Parking is also available across the street at Lee Pruitt Designer, or at Market Central, which is 1/2 block from the gallery. Remember not to leave any valuables in your car.
